The Sunwood Screw-Down Rafter Hip Bar is an integral component of the Sunwood Timber Glazing System, designed for its robustness and visual appeal. This aluminium extrusion is finished with a durable powder coating and equipped with long-lasting EPDM rubber gaskets for enhanced strength and aesthetic quality.

  • Comprehensive Compatibility: Suitable for all thicknesses of glass or polycarbonate, ensuring versatility across different roofing projects.
  • Superior Sealing: Features a High Side EPDM Gasket for a weather-proof seal on top of the glazing, and a separate EPDM Base Gasket that acts as a firm base on the underside.
  • Adaptable Design: The base gasket includes a removable central pip, facilitating use with both grooved and smooth rafters.
  • Ease of Installation: Simplified installation process with detachable components for straightforward maintenance and adjustments.
  • Durability and Maintenance: Built with high-quality materials for a durable, consistent finish that is maintenance-free.

Special Considerations:

Specially suited for Edwardian (4-sided) and Victorian (5-sided) conservatories, this hip bar can be adapted for standard roofs with atypical pitches. For seamless integration, the Plastic Spider Top Cap is recommended over the aluminium version to accommodate various hip and main bar profiles.

Installation Guide:

Begin by securing the base gasket to the timber hip rafter, allowing it to extend slightly for adequate water drainage. If the timber lacks a groove, remove the central pip from the gasket. Staple the gasket in place, position the Hip Bar over it, and secure it at 300mm intervals to ensure a tight seal. Finish by snapping the cover cap over the assembly to conceal and protect the screws, achieving a clean, professional finish.
